Taken the tip to fill my 9-5 tid with Shell diesel and have been paying the extra few p over Asda supermarket diesel for the privilege.

Noticed the pump is just marked as 'regular diesel', and not V Power.

Is there a V Power diesel ? And am I wasting my money on 'ordinary' black stuff ?

I don't know where the ASDA diesel comes from.
From what i understand Shell Vpower is the same as shell standard diesel with added "detergent", which is designed to clean deposits off the valves and such, making the engine run more efficently, improving both the performance and mpg. (marginally IMO)

Somebody will be along soon with more detail I'm sure....

Asda diesel - Grangemouth I suspect.

Bit annoying my local Shell garage doesn't do the V Power stuff. Although it is only a small place and it possibly could just have not labelled the pump with the 'new' name.

Or it's selling the non detergent stuff to keep the price down.

Will drop into the Rosyth filling station and see what they have tonight.

The mystery may not continue much longer...........

As said, there are indeed 2 shell diesels, regular and Vpower.
Whether a certain station stocks it is mostly a marketing decision i.e are there enough people in the neighbourhood (or passing by) that would be willing to pay a premium for the product.

I suspect it's the overpowering presence of Asda a mile down the road which is keeping the pressure on to hold the price down. Usually about 2p a litre in it, but has been as high as 5.

Just read the Shell website, which may have been the first place I should have gone

to quote :

"Shell V-Power is designed to improve performance in any car you drive. Its unique double action formulation is designed to actively clean your engine and protect vital engine parts to help deliver more powerful performance.

Enriched with Efficiency Improver, Shell FuelSave is designed to help improve fuel economy by reducing energy loss. It helps prevent the build-up of deposits in the engine, leaving more of your fuel’s energy to power the wheels, providing you with improved fuel efficiency.
"

"Enriched with Efficiency Improver" because you're worth it....

We sometimes put V Power diesel in our D5 S60 - and it is definitely more economical, smoother and quieter too -shame it's so pricey......

Talking to the lass in our local shell, they are all basically franchises and hence the prices can vary greatly from shell station to shell station. I had always mistakenly believed that it was a brand and thus had set / agreed pump prices

I too have been wondering where the better shell diesel had gone. Its def not as readily available as it was not so long back...

I barely even try to eat up aeros and viggens in my v6 TiD without the fruit shoot in my tank. Gives them too much of a sporting chance

Rosyth does have the V-Power diesel although the one on the bottom road had unavailable signs on Pump 1 tonight.

There were 3 flavours of Shell Diesel in Turkey

FuelSave
EuroDiesel
V-Power

Fuel Save was the cheapest, Euro Diesel was blended so it was like the stuff you buy across Europe and V-Power was a lot more expensive but tasted and smelt exactlythe same as the cheap stuff.

Do they both have V Power ? Forgot to stop last night, usually go to the Primrose Lane (doesn't that sound prtty ? if only you knew...) end one.

Although Saturday's I now have a run down to HMS Caley so could stop off then......
