Red 9000 hatch displaying a "Turbo" badge on the grill (CS ?). It had an appropriate registration  , J9xx OJG and was in Morrisons car park Inverurie.

J-reg could be a slopey fronted 9000CC (original 1984 design) or a CS/CSE (from Sept 1991 on).... the turbo badge in the grille disappeared mid 90s.

If its a J plate it will be CS style. The slope nose only exited on the hatch in 1991 go G/H registered cars. Unless it was a late registered example. I have only ever seen one slope nosed hatch, I owned it for a while. The slope nose existed on the saloon from its inception as early as 86/E through to about 95/M.

The pink panther slope nose Carlsson was on a J-plate

G was 1989-90

Hello welshwizard, 9000Parts and McVities,

Thanks for your comments and information regarding the red 9000 hatch, J9xx OJG.

I've just entered the registration and make into the DVLA vehicle enquiry service and it's showing: year of manufacture 1994, first registered 30 March 1994 and engine capacity 2290cc.

It should be a CS or CSE then.

My Dad owned J349 EMB a late registered 9000i 16 (not a CS) invoice date 20 Sept 1991

If it's a 94 it'll be a private plate. 94 should be L or M. It would be the CS shape.

Unless it was a saloon in which case it would be a slope nose.

Not necessarily all....

potentially it could be a 1994 manufactured 9000CC (original shape with slope nose) with LHD and registered in the UK....

not an awful lot of people know that the original shape was kept in production for a few years after the introduction of the CS/CSE and sold only in the local markets...so the 9000 was sold concurrently in some countries as CC/CS/CD.

Saab certainly gave aficionados plenty of relevant detail points to consider and mull over.

In this case the red 9000, J9xx OJG was manufactured and registered in 1994, is definitely a hatchback and right hand drive so, unless I've overlooked something from folks' knowledgeable contributions, it should be a CS or CSE sporting a private registration plate.

UKSaabs as a source of detailed information and informed comment takes some beating.

Saw an identical car as you describe Rich, outside my workplace in Aylesford yesterday.

Grey 51 plate 9-5 estate with hammerheads parked next to my 9000 at Paradise Park in Denton this afternoon. Always nice to see another Saab parked next to yours, fairly safe to say you won't find any door dings.
