I have at last managed to put the 2009 video together. A rollercoaster day for me as many will know.
No mean feat this year as my video camera managed to overwrite most of my own in car footage annoyingly
My thanks to mark411 for sending up some of his in car footage.

Usual apologies to those UKSaabers and cars I missed.

Vid is 15 mins long, so turn up the sound, and Isuggest a curry and pint of lager rather than sticking on a cuppa!
Hope it gives a flavour of the day for those who could not be there.
Enjoy.
(PS - No time or motivation left to do one without soundover, apologies to the purists).

Nice one Kev.

All the weekend's happy (For me...) memories have just come flooding back.

And has reminded me to finish off putting the interior back in the 9-3.

Cheers Phil, appreciate the good luck, and glad you enjoyed the vid..
Couple of late nights to put it together.

I was devastated my carefully built engine could be dismantled so quickly by oil surge on Cadwell.

as Neo's said

'didn't see that one coming!!'

I think George (Ylee) and Neos have decided on dry sumping. By far the best option.

But....

Cost best part of £1,000!! :argh: - Not sure my budget will stretch, so might be baffles for me. Problem is if it's not the pick up, but the oil returning to the sump, hitting hi G's round corners will not be mitigated enough by any ammount of baffling.

I will seriously have to think whether I keep tracking the 9-5.
It's me everyday driver, and I love having the Q car power on tap. But it comes at an expense....

Don't get me wrong, I just love the car, but it's because of this the heartbreak when you have to rebuild. Too expensive for an amateur!

Maybe I should get me an ol 900 T16, and get Martin from JamSaab to set her up. Cheap and good lookin fun..................................

You can still track at Oulton, Anglesey, Marham, Bruntingthorpe (if they win noise appeal), in fact probably all UK circuits except Cadwell and Mallory...... :park:

Probably the best idea....

9-5 engine and box changes are one of my least favourite pastimes..... hence the reason about me returning my 9-5 to the road soon, exactly as it was before I got the bright-ish idea of going for mega bhp/torque.

I wouldn't have been bothered one jot had my silver 9-3 blown up...as it was so cheap- it was regarded as 'disposable'. It didn't blow though. It just kept on going and going. Drove it to Cadwell, tracked it all day, drove it back home.

I'm sure Mr Jamsaab can sort you out a C900 suitable for the track....

Edit...someone mention Oulton? 8)

Yup. Am working on the wife re Marham. I know its late Sept, when we come back from France.
Would enjoy it,- Vmax on the straight would be ....interesting - if I can get some spare alloys and track tyres.

And always wanted to drive Oulton.

Good talking to you at Cadwell Mark, enjoyed the banter re driving techniques. Pleasure to meet the missus too. Nice to see other halves with a love of track driving.

Here's a few photies of you at Cadwell which didn't make the vid.

I'm so pleased this is on streetfire :D as I can still view the vids there.....as opposed to youtube which never loads.
Or at least this used to be the case until streetfire started using flash 10, it would appear the NHS is a little behind the times when it comes to computing :wall:
I will eventually get to see this vid sometime

I've had to un-install the latest version of Flash Player (the one that is currently available on Abode for download) as it doesn't work.

Good vid! It has inspired me to (try) to put one of mine up! I will try later! The mexico on the grass would be a good place

to start! (unless the good people at Neo's want to pay me to destroy it)!! We shall see!! Actually thinking about it...

They will probably have a good few laughs at the driver!!....Maybe he wants to pay???

WOW! what a video! It really catpured the essence of the day, really enjoyed that.

I really must get some footage other that just onboard at the next event and attempt to make it nearly as interesting as yours soulfirer.

As for camera set up, i'm using a dvd camcorder mounted in the middle of the car just behind the front seats using the 'cargo bar' (£20 from screwfix) and the superclamp from 'B hague camera mounts' (just over £50 IIRC). Its not perfect but it seems to work ok, just need a wide angle lense to give the impression of speed abit better.

/off to watch the video again hehe.

Neil you numpty!!
Kicked up some dirt and stones. Left a large chip on my 9-5's bonnet.
If you listen on the vid, you can hear the ricochet. - I reckon you owe me a pint next time our cars cross. :D

Ps - Sorry to see your MR2's head gasket troubles. I was on the stands when it came in to the pits, water and steam pouring out of your exhausts. Shame.
A little known fact by the way, is Ylee has a mint black MR2 mk2 in one of his garages. Nice lil car.
And.....I have some friends in Galsgae who tune them. Respect, always liked them, mk1's and mk2's.

I use a Hague headrest mount. Cost me c £60, and screws firmly on to either headrest pillar on the 9-5 seats. Works well. Very stable.
At Donington last year, I attached it to the passenger seat, and then told everyone setting out for a passenger rides they could not move their seat, as the vid was positioned.
At Cadwell, I attached it to the drivers chair, and let passengers adjust as they wanted.
On a down side, I discovered it will not fit to 9000 AERO headrests. So could not take some video footage of George's car on the circuit.
Good for 9-5 drivers though. I also need a wide angle lens for effect. Does the job though.
Shame in a depressed mode, I accidentally overwrote most of my fast track footage before I retired. Grrrr.....

Al,

Thanks again for the ride in Team Fliptop. Was really good chatting to you and your father. Nice bloke!
The damage to the 9-5, gives me the chance to think about lightening and balancing the flywheel and crank, which was not done on my car.
Lightening the flywheel would help my Toe and heel. Might even get that lovely 'blip' effect...

If I'm going to have to spend some hard earned wonga replacing, may as well upgrade at the same time.

Both cars will be back. Trust me................................

May even do a 'Monsters return vid', lol

Less than you might imagine, depending on how much weight you remove - I have the Abbott lightened flywheel on mine and it's still a bit lardy to respond when you heel & toe - to the extent that I was having to seriously readjust the calibration of my right foot and temper how far I blipped the throttle on the track hack to avoid over-revving it (I had it nudging 7 grand briefly on one downchange  ).

AHHH! sorry the least i can do is get you a pint then
if it makes you feel any better my windcreen managed to get a nice big crack in it from a fling screwdriver!

as for the bottom end i had a light weight flywheel go in (the abbott one imho dont bother as im sure its warpped) and had the crank lightened and balanced. even with the heavy b234 pistons is revs nice and freely so well worth it. a good machine shop should be able to do you crank and also check your piston and rods, clean them all up and lighten your flywheel for under £250.

Sorry some people having trouble viewing. Annoying. :argh:

Works fine on my home PC etc, but when I tried it in an internet cafe in Glasgow, it came up with a message saying Adobe FLash 10 required ( as people have mentioned already), then stated Firefox was crashing, and shut down UKSaabs connection......

Have people tried going direct to Streetfire.net and playing from there?
If you type in 'soulfirer', you should get my vids coming up. Should be around 7 of them.

Good ol internet cafe's eh!?

Mr Beard - scholar and a gentleman. Thank you for the nice wordies.
