Designed to stop the water running onto the side windows and in through open ones. There was a set for sale from Malbrad on the bay a while ago. VERY rare!

(Does that make me an anorak now???? )

A base for something to clip onto.??? Air deflector as you say Steve? Ginormous mirrors for caravan towing? Channels rainwater into washer bottles? :D

Edit:- Can I please have half a point for mentioning rainwater. :)

Mum had some fitted to her car, I've mentioned this before, they were either given away (pre-Ebay) or binned...

Having said that I might go have a look in the other garage....

Yeh thats what they are for. Keeping the water and dirt from running onto the side windows. I have a set of these on each car. Quite like them aswell, as they continue the flow of the roof gutter from the top of the windscreen neatly down to the top of the bonnet area.

:cen:

The rear louvre that was fitted took its toll on the tailgate which rusted through. Unfortunately I'd put these items in the boot after mum died twenty years ago.

Being left outside for a good while allowed the spare wheel well to get very damp, so I only have 1½ deflectors left...

Makes perfect sense. Even on my 9000 i tend to get a load of washer fluid streaking all over the driver side window at higher speeds and/or left hand turns. It's pretty irritating. If you've ever spent any amount of time driving in a scandinavian winter you'd appreciate something like this. With all the snow/slush/salt/grit on the road, you use the wash/wipe almost constantly and if your side windows are getting all covered in black/brown/grey sludge it's pretty dangerous. I was driving a long-distance motorway taxi for a year in Norway and my record was 16 litres of washer fluid in one shift (800km)...and that was *necessary* for mine and my passenger's safety. :loco:

Dont actually know. Not that i am aware of. Have got the wind deflectors on mine for the side windows so these probably hide any difference that the windscreen ones make. More drag perhaps.
