Hello All,
Hope you are all well. Been nearly 4 years since I defected from my old 9-5 Aero auto saloon and inherited the trusty Ford CMax as my steed whilst the wife takes the 330D. Well the CMax is now a Cat-N, the air con has recently failed and after 14yrs of ownership is nearing a well earned retirement. I fancy a change.

Rolling the clock back 5 years, I originally set out to get a manual 9-5 Aero estate. But ended up with an auto saloon. I still fancy a manual estate and one has appeared locally (no pics yet). It is a 2007 "Anniversary" model - does this mean anything significant? Was hoping it could mean the heated rear seat as Saab had skimped out the spec by then, along with losing the memory seats.

Any clues appreciated.

Thanks

Looks pretty standard. The only extras I can find for the Anniversary edition is that the Denso satnav is standard, along with the CD changer in the boot. And some chrome knobs on the vents. The Aero is shown as having an electric driver's seat, but that may have already been standard on the original car.

The Denso satnav will be well out of date, and the map will be 14 years old, unless an update was found. But it's not very reliable, my 2007 car had the Denso die inside 5 years. It was replaced with a Kenwood, and that was replaced a year ago with a Pioneer one with smartphone links. If you remove the Denso sat nav, the CD changer will be useless, they are paired. You need the changer because the CD slot in the Denso head unit takes the map disc OR a music disc. If you want to use it for a music CD, you get no satnav. In addition, the Denso has no AUX input. The standard radio verion of the9-5 does have AUX.

So, to summarise. It's the same as a standard Aero of the time. Budget for a new radio head unit on top.

I didn't think the Nav system was standard in the Anniversary Aero, the specifications post 2007 were very confusing as an Aero might've been sold and described in the V5 as an Anniversary even if it wasn't specified as an Anniversary. Likewise my 2009 Turbo Edition was registered as an Anniversary, but is definitely an Anni as the kit list is more complete. When I was looking in 2009 for my Dame I looked only at Turbo Editions as the other specs varied considerably. The TE if you can find one, does have memory front seats and heated rears, plus nicer alloys and a black finish dashboard. Not to mention the ICE and Harman Kardon speakers (I do miss that from my NG).

My navigation was failing in 2016/7 and was about to send the unit to Denso for repair when I found my 2011 NG9-5. Only 2 years separated the cars and although the car was light years ahead of the OG the same problems are there.... outdated tech and maps... In defence of the OG and NG navigation systems I did find them more dependable than my TomTom with regards to travel information.

I was looking at the Saab "Used Car Brochure" from 2008. Here's a few bits from the Anniversary section...

It’s the car in Southampton?

Sounds as if it lacks some of the Anni features. Looking at the info SGould shared with us the Anniversary lacks a lot of the features the Turbo Edition had. When I looked at 2008 cars, I never knew if I saw a plain Aero or an Aero Anniversary. The Turbo Edition looked cosmetically better thanks to the wheels, but some were still registered as Annis.

Still a nice car whatever it is...

Yes that is the one. This is the 2nd time the dealer has advertised it (gone up £300 this time) but still they have not added any photos. I enquired first time and they said it was due in stock the following week. Then the ad disappeared. Now it is back at a higher price and still no photos!

AT said there was outstanding finance on it first time round, but that at least has gone now.

All a bit odd.

I guess if we ever get to see it we shall be able to see if @sgould has nailed the spec

I saw that ad - and did a bit of research on the vendor. Registered at Companies House in July, so they've not been around long. Suspect they might not be around long either. Otherwise I'd be off to view it too, as I'm also in the market for a new 9-5 Estate.

Photos are up on the ad now. Nice pale blue colour and it does have memory seats and heated rears. I am no expert on Saab wheels but I think they may be aftermarket alloys. Looks a very nice car to be fair. Might enquire..

Yes, look like Vauxhall replica 18" wheels. IMO they look ghastly. The only suitable alternatives are the Hirsch alloys on SGould's car, or for a Saab 18" wheels there must be some turbines (fitted to 2012 9-3 Aeros) available.

Saab imprint on seatbacks does signify Anniversary, as does colour. But the dashboard is dark grey rather than silver. odd.

The most remarkable thing is, the paint on bonnet and wings is a slightly different shade to the rest of the car. That would make me walk away.

Have you got a link to the ad?

In the brochure pictures above, the dash is not shown as silver.

Is it this one?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... 0024497746?

If so, the pictures are pretty comprehensive.

You are probably right about the dash, when I was looking for my old DE I saw some Aeros with silver dashboards.

Looking on Google images for Anniversary cars, and a lot of Turbo Edition cars come up in the search as Annis. It was confusing in October 2009 when I bought Edna!!

That looks like it could be. The dash is the Aero silver, surely?

I would have reservations about this car. The dealer's address is in a small private housing estate.

Yes that is the one. I confess my (worsening!) eyes had not spotted the front wings - they do appear a shade different than the rest. I also didn't spot the obvious lack of roof rails. The wheels I agree are not very nice but didn't want to offend.

Recent MOT would have been nice. It is in it's extended Covid-19 grace period already and I feel dubious that MOTs put on at the point of sale by backstreet dealers are always robust.

Will perhaps pass on this one.

The MOT record is odd. The last one listed is July 2019, but the headline info says "MOT to January 2021".

From the MOT history, it looks as if the original owner was a bit penny pinching and ran the tyres to almost bald more than once. Maybe that\s why there's a different colour wing. I wouldn't worry about the slight colour difference of bumpers v car body. For some reason they always look slightly different in photos but OK in the flesh.

Isn't that just a 6-month COVID extension?
