I love my work (mostly) and don't have a problem
With people photographing my work, but I hate being
photographed myself.
Have I got to be photographed at work?
Can I opt out.

I would have thought that if it's to be published, brochure, t'interweb, employee of the month, etc that you would *have* to give your permission. If it's a photo of the brew room and you happen to be lurking in the background then they don't need your permission.

Hmm, just looked on a photography site and it may not be that simple but you would expect work to check first that you are OK with whatever is to be done with the photo.

I also googled it and it's a grey area.
I know from scouts we have to have
Permission to take photos. This is for
minors though. Might be different for adults.

Why dont you speak to your boss or call HR? If your uncomfortable with being photographed they should be understanding enough to allow you not to be, if being photographed isnt explicitly part of your job and they continue to photograph you despite your objection it could fall into the category of bullying

I do hope you mean Minors, people under the age of 18, Miners should be able to decide for themselves!

Blame Autocorrect.

I corrected it as soon as I saw it.
You beat me to it. :wall:
It's the boss asking for the
Photographs. No h/r small
Company. Don't want to rock
The boat though.

Why dont you speak to the boss and explain the situation, probably better that than turning round with a leagal standpoint when he tries to take photo next time, im sure approaching him/her would rock the boat less?

Does your contract of employment say you have to be a model

I always refused to have my photo taken at work, but then again I used to refuse to visit sites where they wanted to take my fingerprint too. I'm just a funny git :)

If you are in a public place anyone can take a photo of you, you have no right to privacy. Less cut and dried if you're talking about photographs of children, but even then you cant be prevented from taking a photo of somewhere/thing just because someone else's little emperor decides to wander into shot.

Your boss should be understanding, but if he is insistent and you fall out over it be sure you're an essential part of the business. These things can fester and may be used against you at a later date.

Putting my ex union steward hat on I don't get these "not in my contract" comments, maybe you need to read your terms and conditions. Most employed staff will have T and C's which say you do A, B and C and words to the effect anything else we can think of.

Ultimately, we all go to work, do what we're told and go home. At the end of the month they pay us. That's how it works, within reason. I guess it's a question of where your level of reasonableness meets with your boss?

Back in the days when I had a real job (I'm now self employed) :D
I was asked to pose for some photos for our sales catalogue and web site. Like you hate getting my photo taken but it was a small company so I reluctantly agreed.
In the end the photos were not too bad, most of them were only of my back or hands with only one or two side on facial shots, I could live with that.

you could have some fun with if boss says you have to be in pics, hopefully just like webby had to pose for.

demand a trailer, makeup, PA, hand him a rider as well, valet parking for saab, full catering, but no brown m&m's!!

It was a bit like Webby said, pose looking at items/machines so not a full facial (I hope)
I have since found out, employers need permission to use your picture,
but as said I don't want to fall out.

I'm sure you'll be a fantastic Model. Stop being so negative about yourself, and relish in the fact your boss wants you as the "face" of the company

Mmmmm, eerrrrr, how do I phrase this?.........

You look fantastic!! I don't think the Flash was doing you any favours though. You need to have a word with the photographer to add some diffusion to the flash
