I'm not bothered about my weight/BMI particularly but do want to improve my body composition (less fat, more muscle). Current stats are; 192cm (don't expect this to change!), 95.5KG, fat 29.5% (visceral fat 9%), muscle 31.9%. If I can get that to more like 25% fat and 35% muscle in the next 12 months I'd be happy.

1. Doive 19st 1lbs
2. Gazmk2 15st 7lb (aim is under 14st)
3. Espin99 17st 8lbs
4. Mossypossy 13st 13lbs
5. TurboLincs 15st 5lbs (aim to get back to 13st)
6. Catweazle 22st 2lbs
7. Brooksy 20st 1lb - target 17st correction 20st 61bs - new year was obviously good
8. Ian78 14.5 st - target 13's
9. Zag 17 st 3Ib
10. Jules H-T 95.5KG, fat 29.5% (visceral fat 9%), muscle 31.9%

Just had some new scales delivered - compared them to the old ones and there's a 5lb difference. Unfortunately it's in the wrong direction so I'm heavier on the new (and probably more accurate) scales. Both figures are lower than my starting weight though which I guess is a bonus.

Sunday Update Time.

Zag. 16st 7Ib. Two notches down on my belt :D

Regime is just starving myself :( Breakfast consists of a handful of nuts, banana for lunch and a normal tea. The nuts seem to make you feel full whilst shrinking your stomach. Really good thing is I have lost my craving for sugar, used to eats loads of choc, biscuits, cake etc during the day... Only had two pints of beer and 4 glasses of wine this week. Think I can hopefully largely stick to this regime this time around "get fit at fifty"

Only done 23 miles due to blisters. 6miles takes me just under 2 hours so not been caught on any cameras yet

Please be careful about starving yourself. The results will be spectacular to start with as you have seen..... But your body will soon go into a starvation mode. When this happens your metabolism will slow down dramatically and you are in fact making your body think it will not get food regularly and will then actively fight you for every calorie, especially fats! (On a side note, not that you have said this and nuts are high fat but slow release and are 'good' fats, but cutting out fats entirely is a bad idea). The body will go into a protection mode (to aid survival) and eventually you will feel the need to binge, and your body will store that all, turn it into fat and will take longer to burn due to the lower metabolism.

Apologies if all this is known but someone else reading may not and if it helps one person, job done! Finally getting to use this sports science degree all these years later

1 week, 3lb's down and that was with no major changes. New job also has biscuits galore in the tea room which is so hard to not say no to 3 or 4 (or 10).

Advice heeded TurboLincs. Looks like we are all doing well, it,s easier for us really overweight fellas, 3ib a week is good going when your not just lard like me! Now for breakfast and lunch after my walk, a bleeding banana and coffee

Seem to be loads of these walk a 1000 miles in a year schemes. Blisters almost gone now two layers of socks helping. Did 10 miles over the weekend with family joining up the traveller site dots up around Barns Green/Brooke's Green then did two laps around Petworth Park this morning which must be 7 miles... Feeling fitter and lighter, Blimmen determined this time to get it off and keep it off, I,m on a mission  Enough is a enough... Que Rocky music

Have to you made it from Winchester to Eastbourne yet Mossy?

South Downs way is logistically tricky, unless you are prepared to use two cars or bed and breakfast.
Have done more than half though.

37 miles for the year so far.

I seem to be able to manage 9 or 10 miles ok but then it starts to get unpleasant.

Good going chaps, keep it up. A handful of pounds down for me, despite a weekend in Copenhagen enjoying fine Danish cuisine. Lots of walking done to offset it.

I'll put the updates in a table.

Here's the update then chaps, any other updates post them and I'll include them for next week.

Image

I've been looking at a Ketogenic diet, it takes a lot of dedication and a complete lifestyle change, but it's a proven method of controlled and healthy weight loss. I've tried all sorts over the years, none of which have worked, but I just want something simple to follow from day to day. Lets see what happens.
