I only know of trollbooster from this neck of the woods, time to give him a shout

Got the shout, Scotty,

Mrs TB and I were thinking of a weekend in Paris, as I have some airmiles to use and it's our wedding anniversry on the 3rd. However, Whitby in a SAAB seems more attractive to me than Paris in a Renault. So I'll sound her out. Suspect if I do go I might have nothing to plan for on 3rd June the following year though......

 Snails or kippers? Seems like a no brainer to me.

To quote dusky gentleman who wear sideways baseballl caps and sport gold chains 'Get your bitch in order'

Bonzooki had ideas of meals in up market eateries to celebrate my birthday. Just told her there is now a rising level of interest in the petrolhead Whitby trip, "Oh good" she muttered in a barley audible and wholly unconvincing way

TB - you could always try & combine the 2 events, but in Yorkshire instead of Paris - try to book the two of you into the Star Inn at Harome for a night or two, or the Endeavour in Staithes - both do stupendously good grub

Have you eaten there recently? Heard it had changed hands a year or so ago. Used to be great, maybe still is. Up to date dining review appreciated :)

Yep, I was taken to the Endeavour for my Birthday last December and it was fabulous. Love seafood, me, and this place is just great.

Went to the Star a fortnight ago, my first time for about 7 years, and it's as good as ever.

Mrs TB has just been told she is working that weekend - the penalty for not booking the days off in advance. So, if I can persuade the mini-trollboosters that they'd like to go for a run out to Whitby then I might well be there.....Watch this space, but don't hold your breath...

Hmmm, would the prospect of some idiot dressing up as a crocodile encourage or discourage?

Look forward to meeting you Rich, suggest you PM Bollman re Sheffield convoy. Orca(Paul) should be posting our route soon and maybe a suggestion for S. Yorks joins W. Yorks meet point?

Patrik, glad Nicki is coming along. The two Debos, Bonzooki and her can now form the amused 'silly boys, their cars and their daft website', coven. Leaving us free to talk about, hmmmm, cars

Guys ... route planning time

Bonzo has come up with a really good route - I'm inclined to trust his judgement, since he's run this route many many times and seems to have it down to about 1h45. We're going to be a little more leisurely on the day and take about 2h-2h30 in all with a couple of meeting points on the way.

Departure: 09:30 prompt from Shipley, West Yorkshire. Me & Debo, Val & Debo and The Bonzo Brigade will set off from Bonzo's. Anyone else wishing to start from Shipley is also welcome. Please let me or Bonzo know.

We're going to proceed through Apperley Bridge, Yeadon (any second thoughts, Penguin45???) down to pool and use the Hunters Inn car park as a rendezvous point for anyone coming from that side of Bradford.

Rendezvous #1 09:50-10:00 - Hunters Inn, LS21 2PS
Google Map: http://maps.google.co.uk/?q=Harrogate+R ... =addr&om=1

Thomassen - This would be a good place for us to meet up. Hope you can make it.
Murray - You can meet us there, or at the next stop which is actually easier from your part of Leeds.

Keeping on the A658, the next stop is at St James Retail Park a couple of miles short of the A1. Bollman, Snabbe, Nicki, AndyC, etc from Sheffield, and anyone else coming from the south can meet us there. You'll need to come off the A1 at J47 (signed Harrogate) and find your way to the retail park.

Rendezvous #2 10:15-10:30 - St James Retail Park, HG5 8PZ
Google Map: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en ... =addr&om=1
... again, this is an approximate location for the postcode. The retail park is on Grimbald Crag Way. Bonzo - I suppose we'll loiter around the nearest entrance to the retail park car park as if we'd come from the A1? Should we be all post-modern and meet in McDonalds?

From there, to our desination thus ... Onto A1 again and off at J49 A168/A19 for Teeside, along the A19 for 16 or 17 miles and then take A172 to Stokesley/Great Ayton. Left turning for this not well signed and just round a bend. However helpfully 200 yards before turning a farmer has a silage tanker in a field right next to the A19 with SLOW DOWN TRACTORS written on it in letters about 2 feet high!

At Stokesley (Fliptop ... let me or Bonzo know if you want to meet up here, say around 11:00-11:10?) take A173 for Great Ayton then towards Guisborough. I might take a slight detour at this point through Nunthorpe (where I grew up for my first four years) and onto Guisborough, where I started to be born (and got moved to Middlesbrough, "because I took so darn long" ) ... probably not, through ... I've been through before, but quite a few years ago.

At roundabout outside Guisborough take A171 moor road signed Whitby, just around Scaling Dam (on the right) is a white road left turn to Grinkle, along it to Easington where we join the A173 coast road to Whitby. Past Boulby Mine and Staithes to Hinderwell, where we take a left turn for Runswick.

Destination: 11.45-12:00 in the bay car park. People from North Yorkshire, Tyne & Wearside, or further afield can meet up here. We can have a nose at SAABs, stroll on the beach, stretch legs, etc and then get on into Whitby for a late lunch ... fish'n'chips, bucket o'whelks, whatever floats your boat.

I think we should pick a definite time we intend to be up at the Abbey, so if we want to split up and go off around Whitby, we can meet up later for a graveyard and cliff-top meander, early tea? and off home over't moors, taking in the lovely scenery, Fylingdales, a glimpse of the Pickering/Grosmont railway, etc.

From Pickering, we could do the awful A64 through York and beyond and down to the M1 intersection ... those bound for South Yorkshire (and south) can continue south and those for West Yorkshire take whichever route at that point. It's not at all a nice route to drive, though.
... to Harrogate: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en ... &z=10&om=1
... or to Leeds (crossing the M1 much further south): http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en ... 8&z=9&om=1

The other way is the A170 towards Thirsk, taking in the other two sides of the square we travelled up to Runswick Bay and then follow the route we took up, but in reverse: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en ... &z=10&om=1

Okay? Everyone confused

Paul, once again, fantastic organisation on this, i will meet you guys on near Poole, i have driven around those roads before and i dont intend to miss out on that stretch lol.

Bring that decor panel with you, i will be fully leathered up as i am currently using my drivers seat as a computer chair so i figured i would be better off using it as the Trolls intended and stick it in the car as part of my pre meet clean up!

Quite excited about this one! (as i am about every meet)

Didnt see Jack Hilton's name on the list but i will PM him, if he is coming i think his very will be "Carlsson'd up" courtessy of a parts car at Nottingham Saab and i think it will look the mutts stones in that purple colour!

See you all on the 2nd!

Will do ... do you want some black leatherette for the parcel shelf and door card inserts? It's definitely kitsch
