Hopefully one more than the Ukranians then, but never regard an England match as a forgone conclusion

Just trying to kid myself that it is just a formality...........if we can,t beat these we have a problem bigger than the one we already have...the Rooney factor should see us through..

If he doesn't get sent off the Rooney factor may have an effect

Hopefully by a couple more than France beat Sweden by. Unless Sweden can really do us a favour.

That way we miss Spain in the next round.

England will loose 1-0

Then hopfully all the stupid tabloid red top newspaper carp will stop.
All those real news stories and what's on the front pages? WaynebloodyRooney!

Still only seen one car with those tacky flags on this year, so maybe everyone knows we will loose anyway.

Dan.

My thoughts exactly about Mr Rooney, ....if he doesn't get sent off. He can be brilliant and inspirational. Sometimes he spends all his time and energy trying to retrieve the ball, disagreeing with the ref and ultimately commiting a horrendous foul. For the last week it has been " things will be much better when Rooney is back". I not sure he can cope with the expectation. I really hope I am wrong.

I've never really bought into the 'Rooney factor'. From what I can tell he's not as talismanic as everyone hypes him to be. Truly talismanic players make a positive mark on the majority of their games played. For the comments to be 'if he doesn't get sent off' I think it's obvious there's a worry over his volatility, and therefore how positive an effect he can have.

Rooney, the footballing enigma that haunts some top class English players.

when he is in the zone he is unplayable, otherwise he is more of a liability, 'fraid I have to say all the hype about him being available now and being Englands saviour will do more to take him out of the zone than any player nibbling at his ankles and calling his missus a ill repute through the match.

One day i hope to see him mature, and that before his international career wanes, but then I also hope to walk into a Saab showroom and put down a deposit on a brand new Saab and wait for delivery coz it's on the production line, whilst I still enjoy driving.

The best sweep when England play is identifying when the commentators will reference 1966.

So... by dint of a goal by you know who (who clearly was less than his best) and a virtuoso performance from John Terry, England now face Italy on Sunday.

Likely score: 1-1?

Best thing I read about the whole thing so far (Mail, IIRC) was that the hosts had been disappointed at the take up rate by visitors to a local attraction... Chernobyl tours

Watched it in a bar in town. Tbh it was flipping awful, one rubbish goal and one terrible decision against the Ukraine. They were robbed, we were lucky.

An amazing lack of opportunities as usual, nobody will take anyone on, square passes galore.

Wellbeck, Parker and Milner were shocking, others not much better. How we can play like that and win the group is beyond me, we'll probably go on to win the thing!

I'd have rather sat and watch some paint drying last night, it was just terrible.

Maybe it is down to watch Leicester for over 30yrs, but I didn't see the game that way at all. But again this could be that a combo of watching City and England has somewhat lowered my expectations.........
