Frankly speaking, Valentine's day is just like another day to me. Not that it matters much because I will be playing video games and perhaps eat a bag of chips. But I want you to share your own thoughts. Let's start :)

Another commercial racket I would like to forget, but that would not be good for my health (or what is left of it). So it has to be a card, flowers and find something for SWMBO. Normally go out for a meal but as she is working tomorrow and not home until 19.30 will probably postpone (I hope) and I will have to cook something.

Fortunately my missus detests valentines day and the fact that men are forced to buy expensive flowers etc. I've got her a card and a Toblerone (our joke present) but I will take her out for a nice meal in a week or so's time out of choice.

A 13 HR shift, so a card and a kiss will do.

I have the best wife in the world but on valentines day in 2006 I got a massive bunch of red roses and paid a 7 K tax bill that morning in Barnstable .
The next day I fell down the stairs broke my leg and was out for the rest of the year :geek: :geek:

One of those acts the previous day was a bad omen and I dont pay the tax bill on time now and I dont buy her things on valentines day but I will put the bins out
This raises question two How does just one married couple just living on their own manage to produce so much rubbish

We decided not to do the usual cards and small gifts this year. Need to save money and we get plenty of treats as it is. I will however be collecting 20 litres of wheel cleaner from Euro Car Parts for £6 at some point. Will probably buy up some chocs at the weekend when they flog them off.

Not sure if the wheel cleaner is still available as it doesn't seem to come up in their eBay store anymore, but here's the link as posted on the welding forum. It's click and collect.

I bought her a special box of chocolates and she bought me a 4lb lump hammer. The way to a man's heart,eh?

Actually, we were together when she bought the hammer, and the only other thing in the basket was a rat-bait box (There are rodents in her rental property).
I said to the woman on the till "One of these is my Valentine present. Things arent looking good either way".

Bought the good lady a 'love sausage' from M&S... well she loves sausages, and it seemed appropriate.

Nothing unusual. ONLY, Sainsbury run out of Stella. Not surprised. They was flogging it off for £13 per18 cans!

I had to settle for Kronic.

Won't be expected todo much else this weekend!! :D

Go to work, come home, bit of housework. Chat to wife.
That's it normality, we gave up on this nonsense years ago.

I gave Alison a card which whilst fulfilling the Valentine sentiment also had a scene related to the name of the street upon which we live. We don't fuss much over the day as such, it's just that it pleases me to do some decorative writing on the card and envelope. I'd not go so far as to call it calligraphy, but you get the idea.

Much of the day involved taking Alison's 86yr old mum into Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and back as she was having surgery to remove a cataract from one of her eyes. We also spent some time going over the aftercare proceedures with her upon her return home. Chippy supper and telly for us after that.
