We have to go to Penzance on Monday to collect some of my wifes old school stuff from her old home as MiL (outlaw) is moving next week.

She's set solicitors onto us to collect it, but also got the same solicitors to ban us from entering the house.....apparently we need to get a collection agent to take it out of the house so we can put it in the car, except we don;t know what it is or where it is, as it was 24 yrs ago it was left there, when SWMBO went to uni...

Normally long journeys like this are eaten by one of our 9-3 TTid's at ~65mpg over the 850 mile round trip on a single tank (just about).

This time as we are collecting some big stuff, I'm taking dads 9-3 estate..... 2.8 v6. That should be interesting to compare fuel use......

Also considering taking some 2*4 and a shovel.

Oh it's going to be a fun 3 days.

Why bother collecting? Send it to the tip.

Save money.

All good?....

She won't tell us what we have to collect and what we can't, but we have to clear it, or get threatened with court again. We know what was in the will which we need to clear, but not what else is there. If we don't clear it, we get hauled to court for delaying the sale.

We have Rob Crago going in Tuesday to collect some furniture gifted in a will 9 yrs ago to take to David Lay's auction house as we have nowhere for it, but the wife has her old growing up and school stuff, photo's, trinkets etc scattered around the house (including a canteen of silver cutlery we are bringing back) which we need to find and collect. Stuff been moved around since wife went to uni.

9 bedroom guest house in an acre of land just outside Penzance.... not the best home for a single 82 yr old.

As UKSaabs resident same day courier based in Exeter I do this route quite a bit
There are very few independent couriers in Cornwall due to lack of work and it costs us little to run down there and pick up loads so we take them on
Most loads go to London but quite a lot go to Norfolk and Suffolk Norwich and Cromer areas are always popular I think there maybe a bit of money in those areas

I actually enjoy this run to be honest with you so I think you might have a nice run in a decent car despite your domestic issues :D

So have fun and enjoy the run :D

It would be great if we knew what we have to remove...

Other than the wooden bits you can see here going straight to auction

8ft*3ft Table, 6 chairs, 2 calvers, dresser, round table in far corner, canteen of silverwear behind camera man (which we are keeping)....

They have to go out a window being removed Tuesday Morning....

Image

Then we have to find the wifes other stuff without being let in and without being told what it is or where, and remove it before completion.

If we knew what it was.
Not allowed in the house
Have to remove our stuff
Not allowed to touch MiL's stuff.

Hence the 2 by 4 and shovel

It will be fun for MiL, she's a hoarder, 30 years in this house, 9 bedrooms, 2 dining rooms, office, 3 bathrooms. moving on 23rd Feb to 1 bed flat near St Ives.

House is heaving with poo.

Give her a ton and a bottle of gin. Send it to the tip.

This sounds like one of them thar second hand buyer types deals.

If you don't know of any real gems in the hoose. Let it be. Who knows? You could turn up all ready to collect, just to be hit with another caveat.

I wouldn't bother tbh...

If you want to drop on for a cuppa and a rest/chat I'm in Penzance. I'm also available to help with anything - except storage as I've a garage full of daughter-in-law's dead dad's stuff.

Look on the bright side, it's going to be a lovely day - it could have been much much worse!

Strange behaviour, keeping cattle in a dining room.

I see what you did there. I saw a Jack Rustle on another forum earlier today, which I much enjoyed.

Look on the good side,
the DPF's will be clean after the 800 mile run.
Just put the cruise on and chill out.
Or in a Saab bomb it all the way.

MiL stood at the door, said you can't come in and slammed the door. Even though my wife owns 50% of the house.

Contacter had to leave after 2 hrs due to other commitments.

Solicitors argued all day...

We threatened court for violation of court order, and in the end took a cash sum for not collecting the goods.

The one item we have managed to get, has had half the contents (silver) removed.

Sounds like a nightmare, sad when family hate each other like this.
